Fly High

Dear Artist Friends,
Today, I Shalini Pahwa /artforte am feeling proud to be a part of Mudra Craft Stamp team. I am sure I would do justice to this wonderful team and learn from you.

As my first entry to this august clique of designers, I present a wall art which combines two lovely spirits – the power of “dream” and the exquisiteness and uniqueness of “hibiscus flower”.

To begin describing my creation, I am reminded of a nice verse that I read some years ago which has been my inspiration for this creation :

“Wake every morning with the same feeling…
Live up high and fly on top of the ceiling.
I just know that I'm on my way…
It doesn't matter to me if I'm chasing the clouds away.
North or South, East or West…
I live my life to the fullest.”

In this wall art, I have used Hibiscus flower, which not only are very colorful, unique and picturesque, but also have immense medicinal properties which has been used across the world in many cultures. Inspite of being such a wonderful gift to mankind, Hibiscus flower continue to fly high without pride or fear, without arrogance or pretense – just spreading liveliness and love to one and all. This spirit is what is being captured in this Wall art.

Besides the colorful Hibiscus flower made from paper and decorated with riot of colors, stamps, glitter balls, acrylic paint and center circle panel created using distress ink with white embossing powder, I have used cut-outs humming bird cut-outs to heighten the spirit of “flying high”.

Hope you like my first entry. Please leave your comments. Would like to hear from each one of you and improve with every post of mine…
Thanks & have a great month of August.

A Box of Love

Good Morning Everyone,

We are entering the month of August which is also significant in many ways for all of us. Besides the month marking the day of India’s independence, it also marks the beginning of the months of festivals with RakshaBandhan, Janamshtmi, Onam, Eid ul-Adha all being celebrated within a month of each other. And perhaps this is the most apt time for Papericious and Mudra stamps to also have a unique bondage this month.

Today, I present to you a unique creation symbolizing the pious love of a brother-sister. This piece of art however can be adapted in any of the festivals occurring this month. I have hence called this card which also has a box containing a mini album and memoir – “Box of Love…”

The top of this “Box of Love”captures the basic theme of the festival. I have used the new awesome Papericious Pattern Paper The Gentleman. The quotes and lovely fussy cut on the top highlight the theme of the box.

As you flip open the top, a small lovely memoir box is revealed inside. This box can house three wallets which can carry your choicest collection of photos for the occasion, along with lovely stamps of Mudra specially being released for the festive season ahead. For Raksha Bandhan (as example) you can paste old pics of yours and your brother which would symbolize the purity of your relation and strengthen your bond of love. It can also carry your special message for your brother and the love thread which would bind your brother to the spiritual love and care of all sisters…

So this festive season, prepare such a lovely gift for your loved ones, to elate and surprise them with your innovation and exclusivity of gift. Let them feel special and cared for.

I hope you all  liked my project and would love to hear your comments...
